Chicago, IL - Avalon Park Universities & College Degree Programs
Once known as Pennytown, Avalon Park, Chicago got its current name in 1910, when community members decided to take the name of the English Isle of Avalon. Only a decade before, the Chicago neighborhood was a sprawling swampland. Since 1930 Avalon Park has boasted a 28-acre park, which now has baseball diamonds, fitness centers, a swimming pool, water playground, tennis courts, and bike paths. Many schools also can be found in this Chicago neighborhood. Colleges and universities in and nearby Avalon Park include City Colleges of Chicago, University of Chicago, Kendall College, and Northwestern University. Avalon Park is also home to a wide range of restaurants, from down-home to fine dining. |
