Grand Boulevard, Chicago is a neighborhood full of history on the southwest side of Chicago. In the late 19th century, the boulevard itself served as one of the city's main thoroughfares, attracting wealthy citizens who built elegant townhomes. Because of the area's accessibility and public transportation, it became a commercial hub and started attracting a wide variety of families in the 1900s. The neighborhood is home to the Daniel Hale Williams House--a National Historic Landmark dedicated to one of the country's first African American heart surgeons. Today, the Harold Washington Cultural Center is a centerpiece to this cultural center. Grand Boulevard is an ideal location for students because of its proximity to the Chicago Loop, schools, colleges, and universities, such as Northeastern Illinois University and Chicago State University.| » Illinois Colleges: Quick Search | » Featured School | |||
