Chicago, IL - Lower West Side Universities & College Degree Programs
Chicago's Lower West Side neighborhood, known as Pilsen by Chicago residents, has long been considered an entry point for Chicago's immigrants and working class. Historically home to Germans, Poles, and Mexicans, today the area is largely Hispanic with strong Mexican, Salvadorian, and Puerto Rican populations. Its affordability and central location (just three miles southwest of the Loop) make it accessible for recent immigrants, whose restaurants and bodegas are a testament to the area's diversity. Further celebrating the area's culture is the Mexican Fine Arts Museum, which opened in 1987. Public schools abound in the Lower West Side, and the Stevenson Expressway allows a quick commute to Chicago's jobs, colleges, and universities.| » Illinois Colleges: Quick Search | » Featured School | |||
