North Dakota serves up a generous helping of the past, in the form of pioneer heritage and historic and modern American Indian culture. Residents and guests appreciate North Dakota's world-class perch walleye fishing, waterfowl, big game, and upland game.
Today, the state is working to boost its future as well, with improved job and education opportunities in technology, healthcare, and public education. With an estimated overall population of 636,677, North Dakota's major cities include Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks, and Minot. The first two cities have per capita incomes that match the national average at $31,769 and $31,096, respectively. The latter two both house major United States Air Force bases.
A great place to pursue a degree program or career education, North Dakota also takes pride in its public secondary education. The Ed Tech Council (ETC) is working on distance education systems to deliver comprehensive curricula to all of the state's high school students.
