Wisconsin's wide plains and fertile soils are ideal for raising cattle, and because of this it is known as "America's Dairyland." Wisconsin is more than just endless cornfields, though: Milwaukee, with a population of almost 600,000, is located on the eastern edge of the state on Lake Michigan. The state capital of Madison lies in the southern part of the state, and Green Bay is just north of Milwaukee near Lake Michigan.
With the amount of raw goods coming out of the soil, Wisconsin is also a center for food processing. Miller Brewing Company's headquarters are located in Milwaukee, whose presence has helped earn Wisconsin the title of "Beer Capital of America." Wisconsin is among the top fifteen states in terms of industrial production. Wisconsin's rich forests have also allowed it to become the biggest paper producer in the United States, and the industry employs over 40,000 residents.
